The HomeWeb Starter Kit is the client software which enables Windows computers to participate in the HomeWeb service. The combined software and service allow participants to send commands to their computers from anywhere over the internet. Any number of computers may be simultaneously accessed.

The client software ships with many useful commands for file retrieval and file manipulation, as well as interaction with cloud storage accounts. Users can extend the product by defining their own commands. Nearly any sort of command can be defined - for tasks such as searching database and calendar applications, sending faxes and emails, or performing home-automation tasks.

Users can extend their business or personal web sites using the HomeWeb service. Of particular use is the 'chat search' feature. Commands from a web site can be routed to the user's computer, where the user can monitor web requests and initiate real-time chat sessions with web site visitors. Users may participate in small business networks where a locator web site routes requests matching a user's profile to that user's computer.

The HomeWeb client software includes extensive documentation which walks the user through the process of requesting a secure personal web site for use with the HomeWeb service.

The HomeWeb Starter Kit conceptually allows you to "skip" the cloud and directly access your computer - rather than accessing copies of files you previously uploaded to the cloud. You can access files, but you aren't limited to files. Since you're sending a command to your computer(s), you can query and manipulate nearly anything on your computer(s). This product basically puts your computers (however many computers you control) into a "personal" cloud for you.
